UHH what the hell just happened??

So here's the deal, I went to the Beer, Bourbon and BBQ festival in Timonium MD, (pretty much right outside Baltimore). All was well the car was running good as it has since I bought it back in September. After the festival, I get in my car, start it right up, drive down a few aisles in the parking lot towards the exit.

While I was driving, some drunk dude jumps in front of my car while I was in 2nd gear, so I had to hit the brakes pretty hard in order to not turn him into street pizza... and my car stalls out.

Then it doesn't start back up....

and I was about 80 miles away from home.

The car cranks, but it wont start up. The Battery tested weak when I was at the dealership a few months ago, but I had no battery light or anything, and all my power options are still fully functional.. (Interior lights, headlights, DVD player, rad fans, etc..) so im doubting the battery just died on me. One guy who tried to help us in the parking lot said that I wasn't getting any spark from the distributor.. but I dont know how he figured that out..

has this happened to anyone?? please help.

its a 1997 Acura 2.2 CL Premium, 5spd with 213,000 miles on the clock (original motor). No major mods other than a SRI and a DVD player.

did u flood the engine by giving more gas while the engine was off?

try letting it sit for a bit to see if it clears up

wot happens if u manually push start the car, will it then crank up and start?

I did give it gas to try to crank it and get it to fire up.. no deal on that.. i let it sit a while.. and then still nothing.

I was in a parking lot and didnt have the room to push start it, so I didn't try that. I had to get the car towed from Baltimore to Falls Church VA.. ended up costing me 300.00

I would just go over the whole thing and make sure nothing is loose. If you ever do happen to flood a newer fuel injected car somehow, hold the pedal to the floor when cranking it signals the ECU that there was a flood and triggers fuel cut. If all the plug wires are connected, i would just unbolt the rotor cap and have a look to verify the rotor and rotor button are still there. (should be a tab-like thing on a post that has a spring loaded button on the middle and on the outside there is a piece of metal that contacts the metal points in the rotor cap)

Ok so.. new Battery, new plugs, and new wires..

Car still cranks with no turn over although it sounds like its def. trying.

Not getting spark, so i'm going to try the Distributor tomorrow... the guy who was helping me out said that if after we get spark its still not turning over.. he is going to crack the valve cover open to check and make sure the timing belt isn't broken.

Sounds like oil is fouling out your plugs somehow... no idea on what to advise you to do other than find someone to look at it.

If you look at the pictures on the link i posted, its only one of the spark plugs that is covered in soot, the electrode part on all of the plugs look identical though.

now that i read up a little bit about the subject..

looks like all of my plugs are "Ash Fouled"

http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/engine/plugs.html

i guess that means I'm burning oil somewhere then....

also, what I want to know is...

Let's say on the off chance that the engine is siezed... would it still crank? I did notice that the oil was pretty damn low when i was changing the spark plugs. but the engine cranks, and tries to start up even.. that wouldn't happen on a siezed/locked up motor would it??

Ok, so at first I wasn't getting any spark.. so we changed out the distributor. Now we are definitely getting spark but now the car sputters out and dies after running for about a minute..

Please help!

sup dude,

did you see if you got fuel?

pressure test the fuel rail and see if its good, if not , check the fuel pump

if good pressure, you can go ahead and connect some fuel injector cleaner to the fuel rail ( disconnect the fuel line and connect the cleaner to the fuel rail)

you should find a pressure tester in a local auto parts store

let us know what happens

peace

hey.. the guy who was working on my car said it was getting fuel and spark.. but he is thinking that its a sensor of some sort.. He ran an OBD-II test off the diag. port but since I had recently changed the battery, he is not showing any codes.. and any codes that were stored.. aren't there anymore.

ok if you're getting spark and fuel then drive up to a river and launch your car in.

drive it back out and check the voltage on the sensors.

do me a favor and don't reply with any of your technical "know-how"

i'm not some 15 year old high-schooler and I don't appreciate your attempt at being "funny"

I have a legitimate problem and I would appreciate legitimate responses.. if you cant offer a legitimate response.. then simply, don't.
