Hey do any of you guys know the registeration procedure for a transponder key for a 98 CL?? and programming remote??

I just bought a used CL and it won't stay on. I was driving and all of a sudden, the car would not accellerate. I pull the car over and then the engine shut off. I could start the vechicle, but it would not go anywhere before it shut off again.

I think it might be the ignition recall, but I'm not sure of the vechicle history.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

There's a good guide on how to reprogram remote a while back, use the search feature...

As for the transponder problem, i think you should call either Acura's tech service or some honda/acura specialized shops near where you live and get a correct diagnosis for the problem...DON'T go to a dealer, they'll either scare or pressure you into doing something that's not needed so they can charge money.

Try that out and post the solution so others can know what to do if they have the same prob...

What you have there is an ignition switch recall problem I just got that problem fixed on my 2.3 98 cl sometimes you can wiggle the key to the rght position to keep the car running but that is pretty risky when driving the car can shut off whenever so be careful at intersections be careful period...

If you can take your key out of the ignition while the car is in gear, you need the recall.
