Transmission... used vs. rebuilt?

I know the subject of trannys is covered quite extensively for our beloved CL's, but I am looking for personal feedback to find out what the best fix is. My '99 3.0 is at 127,000 miles now and tranny is nearing it's end. I am not doing the work so any national recommendations are welcomed as well. I am keeping this car for another 10 years, your thoughts?

if you are keeping it i would get a rebuild as a use 1 even inspected with new fliud could be close to gone as well.

i my friend would rebuild (with stronger parts if poss.) so you could get a new clean tranny filter and with new, new, new from the start if you baby it, and change the fluid regular you will have the piece of mind to know that its never been nutral dropped, over reved in a low gear or bagged.

that being said if you get it rebuilt by a joe's tranny shop, it might explode...
id get honda/acura to rebuild, just my

OK, so I just left the shop where they quoted me $2400 for a rebuilt tranny w/ new torque convertor, 18 month 18,000 mile nationwide warranty on parts and labor. ABS sensor is going to cost $240, and I need 4 new tires.

On the bright side, the LUCAS additive did help with the hard shifting, not so much on the slipping but there is a noticeable improvement in overall shifting.

Looking for stock tire recommendations that users have liked on their CL. 205/55/r16.

$2400 is a good price, even better if includes removal & install.
but ask if the parts are chinese, i PROMISE you chinese parts will fail in that tranny.

as for the tires (tyres outside sask, canada, lol) ive tryed some different ones and LOVE and will ONLY use eagle GT's amazing grip for a great price.
as for the 205/55/16's you can find 215/55/16 and they work fine but they are more $$$$$$.

I use Bridgestone Potenza RE970 AS Pole Position 205/55/16. I've had them for about 8 to 9 thousand miles so far and I'm pretty pleased. They offer really good steering feel and response. Also, treadwear seems to be pretty good.

New tranny installed, and she is shifting smoother than a prom queen's thighs. I am gonna baby the shit out of it, but I did ask what ATF they used and they told me it was Kendall VersaTrans synthetic blend that is supposed to be good in our beloved rides, any input on this particular ATF?

nope, no good, you want to be using honda/acura synth. auto. tranny fluid, and you want 12 liters a.s.a.p., its not going to explode tomorrow but premature wear can occur almost instantlly if the wrong fluids are used, expecally the auto trans, it gets really hot and is in a sence a hydraulic operating piece, each manufacturer uses different flash points and hydraulic densities.

that being said IM SO JEALOUS, I WANT A NEW TRAN'S!!!
id have the biggest grin on my mug if i were you. it probably shifts so sweet.

that being said i highly highly recommend
1st- a magnetic drain plug if one not already installed
2nd-tranny cooler if one not already installed
3rd-regular fluid changes with HONDA/ACURA AUTO. TRANNY FLUID
