Can I swap a 2001 CL type S tranny into a 1999 CL?

Only if you also grab the harness and ECU, the 99 uses a 4spd tranny while the 01 is a 5spd

 

Has anyone done this swap? Is it recommended? I assume the 5-speed would produce better MPG while also being a bit stronger since the '01 had 240HP and my '99 only has 200HP.

Thoughts, experiences?

 

i belive both the 1st gen and 2nd gen's tranny's are weak. ive read a lot on these tranny's and they seem to be an issue. i want to know why they didnt give the v6 a manual till 2003, the last year of cl's?????

ive thought of doing the tranny but its to expencive so i will wait till mine blows.
