Transmission Problems

Hi, My 98 CL 3.0 has 161,000 miles and on the original tranny.
Recently, once warmed up the car jerks when slowing down (not for the first 10 mins of driving)
From what I read around here it is the tranny saying good bye!!! Right?
Is there anything I can do to keep it going for a little while longer? (not the best time financially) Any additives or a fluid flush help?
Acura dealer quoted $3000-$4000 for a rebuilt tranny.
Thanks

If u do a fluid flush the trans will crap out right away. It's the gunk and garbage holding it together.

you can get a tranny cooler to help the tranny. it won't prevent the tranny rebuild from happening but it will help it sooner than expected unless you are at that point already.

It crapped out on me the other day and it's rebuilt at the local transmission shop for $3000 with 24 mo /24,000 mile warranty.

Wow that's pricey! That's why I bought a 5 speed. I replaced the tranny with one from the salvage yard with 89,000 miles on it for $85!!! The kid that had it before me must have totally beat the piss out of it. The original trans had a clicking noise in the differential. Cheaper just to swap it out for that price. Smooth sailing now!
