Angry transmisison help

I have a 97 cl 3.0 with 140 thousand miles. Ive read from so many other blogs that this car is plagued with transmission problems and I thought that my car was exempt from those problems until last night.

When I got home from work yesterday evening my car started acting sluggish. I drove 45 mins on the highway from work, and then I stopped at the gas station. The entire way home on the highway my car was fine. I stopped a few places in town and it was fine then too. When I left the supermarket I noticed that I had my gas pedal to the floor and my car would not go over 20 miles an hour. By this time I was only a few blocks from home so I just pretty much coasted the entire way. I barley made it into the parking lot at my complex.

When I pulled into the parking space I noticed that there was a trail of transmission fluid that had followed me. I had my car towed and there was a big puddle of transmission fluid on the ground underneath. The mechanic I took it too told me that there was a hole in the hose and that I will have to have my whole transmission rebuilt or get a new one.

I seriously love this car, it's my baby and I do not want to get rid of it. I am willing to pay for it to be done but I want to make sure that it is what is really needed.

I have not had any problems with shifting before and this is the first time I have had to take the car in for something other than the regularly scheduled maintence. Thanks for your help.

From: is everything.
Hole in the hose? Does he mean the transmission fluid cooling lines? I don't see why you would have to rebuild it in that case unless you really nuked it from the fluid loss.

well i say fix that "hole" and fill the tranny up with Honda ATF-Z1 and see if it still works. If it doesnt, you might have burned out your tranny and a rebuild is needed with cooked clutch packs and shift solenoids etc. Heat (low fluid) is the killer for our transmissions.
