My Steering wheel radio controls do not work all the time if steering wheel is at normal position (like driving straight) however if you turn the steering wheel say 45 degrees they work fine. I think there might some contacts that press against a flat round disc in the steering column that may be worn down??? I almost have the steering wheel pulled off and thought I might ask before finishing. Has anyone had this problem? 99 3.0CL Thanks !

 

check the wires that run under the steering wheel, those might be chafed. Also, check the connectors going to the black control unit, and the one under the airbag. Those are the only ones that would possibly move around slightly while driving.


Oh yeah, be extremely careful if you feel the need to pull the wheel all the way off, it's a bitch to get back on perfectly straight, and the ribbon cable likes to fall out when you take the wheel off.

Thanks Saiko ! I did go ahead and remove but could not find any loose connections. Pretty sure it's the black control box, know where I might get one ? junk yard or do you know of a good internet site ? / Chris
