starter location on 99 cl

My buddy has a 99 accord and I think his starter is shot. Where is the starter on the 99 cl. Its probally in the same place as the accord. I havent seen the car in person but he said the battery cables were on tight with a new battery and the dash lights come on. He also hears some other noise which is probally the fuel pump.

Anyone know the steps to swap the starter out.

The starter is located on the right hand side of the engine near the battery. To make it easier to access, you can remove the battery and the metal tray which supports the battery. There are (4) 12mm bolts. Unbolt them. There should also be ground wiring (for the battery) attached to the metal tray. A 10mm bolt holds the ground wiring bracket. Remove the 10mm bolt and you can yank the metal tray out. You'll have a nice view of the starter. There will be 3 wires ontop the starter motor. Remove the wire with the connector pin (there will be a rubber cap covering it). There is also another wire you can remove and it's the one leading away from the starter. It's a 10mm nut (LOLZ) and you can remove it. Once the wires are removed, there will be (2) 17mm bolt that you will need to remove that will separate the starter assembly from the engine. One will be located on the top and the other will be underneath the starter assembly. Unbolt both of them and keep in mind the shorter bolt stays ontop and the larger bolt stays underneath. The starter will come right out. Have fun.

Starter or ignition switch?

My car has been having problem starting for a couple months. Sometimes won't start randomly and I can turn the key and hear a click and keep trying until it starts. But up until recently it wouldn't start so I kept trying and then the click noise stopped all together and won't click anymore or start. How do I know it's the starter or ignition switch?
Thank you!!

Kalvin to test the starter directly, take a jumper wire and jumper the solenoid on the starter directly to the positive battery terminal. If the starter turns over then its likely the ignition switch. If the starter does not turn over, your starter is bad.

Make sure your battery is 12.6 volts and in good shape.
