just picked up a 1998 cl 2.3 manual. was wondering if the cluster will need programmed if i get a new one. i think we have chased the issues down. scanned it today got p1259 and p0420 codes. but the main issue is the speedo. the speedometer,trip, and odometer are not working. does the bouncing thing. it will work occasionally for a couple miles. it reads 20 when u turn the ignition on with and without the VSS connected so we figured its not that. ive taken the cluster out and unplugged it and plugged it back it and didnt really work. someone suggested it might be the brakes but we put the scanner on it and its reading the speed so the computer is sending the speed to the cluster but its not picking up. am hoping for any help that you guys can give me. including leads on buying a cluster. preferably used(well cheaper at least) also wondering if it will need programmed. thanks in advance

 

P0420 is your cat or back o2 sensor going bad. as for the speedo. you can go to a junk yard and pick up one for fairly cheap. i dunno if you have a wiring issue or you need to replace your VSS. as these go out sometimes.

 

vss is fine. we are getting feedback from the sensor. any idea what all clusters would work in this? years and models? accord or whatever. still new to it all. tryn not to have to go to the dealer on this stuff
