remote amp wire
I hooked it to the #5 wire which is white/yellow and in the diagram I saw was listed as the radio wire. My problem now is the amp stays on no matter what unless I disconnect the battery or the remote wire. Any suggestions?
The Bose remote wire should be connected to the aftermarket turnon/remote wire. Its either blue or blue white. Another option is connect it to the acc wire that the red wire on the aftermarket radio is on. Did you use a harness or hardwire it into the wires directly??
you dont want constant power to the remote, unhless you have a small amp that hooks to to an acc wire from the fuse box or something because if you have a constant to the remote and a constant to the power wire the amp will stay on all the time
Going through that now with my kicker 750.1. Everytime I know I'm gonna be a while, I go in the trunk and unplug the remote wire from the amp. Pain in the ass let me tell you! Gonna install a toggle on/off swith up by my shifter.
All factory audio wiring
Right Rear Speaker (+/-) red/yel at radio- brn/wht at amplifier
Left Rear Speaker (+/-) blu/yel at radio - gry/wht at amplifier
Right Front Speaker (+/-) red/grn at radio - brn/blk at amplifier
Left Front Speaker (+/-) blu/grn at radio - gry/blk at amplifier
Power Antenna yellow/white + radio
Factory Amp Turn-on same as power antenna
Radio Illumination red/black + radio
Radio Ignition white/red + radio
Radio Ground black - radio
Radio 12V white/yellow + radio
These are colors from directechs DEI
If your having issues with the yellow white wire turning on your aftermarket amp its because its probably lower than 12 volts and wont turn on the aftermarket amp.
Some oem radio remote outputs are 6v to 9v not enough for adding an amp.
Just connect the remote wire to the acc/ignition white red.
The amp may have a turn on pop when the car is turned on and off but shouldn't be too bad
Switch to an aftermarket radio and you still can use all the Bose speakers and amp.
Then the remote wire from that radio would work with your aftermarket amp.
Hope this helps

there are some people on here that say a aftermarket HU will not hook to the factory Bose amp but I know my kenwood does, not sure what HU these guys that have problems are running but I know mine hooks to the factory amp because I can unhook that one wire thats for the amp and no speakers play except the subs but just wanted you to be aware some have stated they had problems with this so you will know before you purchase a HU
Any other brands that you're aware of that hook up to the factory amp no problem? Kenwoods are nice and if that's the only one that's fine, but would like to know my options. Thanks man!
that is the only brand I have used so I do not know of others that will work, I just know everyone was saying it wasn't possible in one topic but I knew it was. This is the thread where it was said there was no way so you may want to ask them in there to see what they are using and stay away from those https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-cl-diy-faq-74/new-head-unit-factory-bose-705548/ But I have used two Kenwood's and both of those worked without any problems
Do you have the remote wire on a constant 12v source. If so what is happening is when you slam the door or trunk it actually is creating pressure in the car which moves your speakers. This in turn is back feeding a signal into the amp which sounds like a deep wave like tone kinda like a reverb. Bet you connected high level inputs directly to the rear speaker wires too. Seen this before in a g35 I installed an amp onto the oem bose system. To test my theory open a window first then close the door. If it doesnt happen then its the issue described. connect your remote wire to a switched source.

I would check and see if it does it with the door open and pressing the brake to get the brake lights to come on, I am guessing it has nothing to do with pressure, just a surge in the power system which is causing it to thump. I am betting the amp is staying on all the time so its not hooked to an accessory switch and that is why it doesn't do it when the remote wire is unhooked
As I have stated earlier in this post I hooked the remote wire to the white/yellow constant by mistake so I have to unplug the remote wire from the amp if I am gonna be away from the car for long. It's been hooked up like that for a week and no problem, but all of a sudden I get the thumping when shutting a door or the trunk. Makes sense what Jim is saying. Gonna test your theory tomorrow and then I'll post. Po401- it only does it when I shut a door or if I've already been driving around thumping the system for a while and turn off the radio it will do it.
I still bet its a surge causing it, because when you shut the door or trunk the interior light is going off. I have had these do like this before, it would do it with any power surge from pressing the brake or turning on the interior lights. The pressure can cause the thump but it would still do it with the remote wire unhooked, and you say this stops it from doing it, that is why I say a power surge is the culprit
Well I fixed the remote wire issue by hooking it to the ignition/acc wire so that the amp shuts off when the car does. Still the issue with the speaker hitting a loud steady tone. I can open and shut the doors/trunk all day as long as the radio isw on. When I turn the radio off it does it without even touching a door or the trunk. For now I'm just leaving the radio on at all times and I should be fine. Thanks for everyones suggestions!
Hooked the remote wire to the white/red ign/acc wire and now the amp turns on and off with the car. Got the weird speaker sound the first time I turned the radio off, and never happened again. 1 Kicker l5 12" is just not gonna cut it I am realizing as well. Gotta get a second one.
