Radio Code and Console Problem...

My radio got reset when my dad cleaned the battery terminals, so now it just says code. I searched EVERYWHERE in my car, all the places it should be and its no where to be found. I tried to get the serial # by doing the pressing 1 & 6 in the radio thing, still didn't work it just kept saying code and not giving me the serial. Then I was going to remove the console and get it manually... but my console is WAY different then the ones shown in all the DIYs I could find... Since mine's a '97 with a 5 speed tranny you can't just take off the trim on the face of the console, it just doesn't exist. And theres no screw in the coin thing either... How am I supposed to get to the radio? And is there anywhere weird that people have found their radio codes?

Edit: and theres no way I'm paying the dealership $90 to take out the radio

on the 97 model you have to remove the radio and get the serial number and got to an acura dealership to get the code. the 1-6 and power trick is only for lilke 2001 and newer.

I had the same thing. So yesterday I took out the console and took it to my local dealership. The dude checked my registration and ID and gave me the code. No biggie.

Just take it to the dealer, you don't even have to pay anything.

I registered my Acura w/ the Acura Owners Link a couple years back and recently revisted the site. I found my radio code posted w/ other information on my car. It might be worth a try for others looking for their code. Here's the link.

Acura Owners Link

good luck

GREAT advice!

I just bought a 99 CL 3.0 and am the 4th owner. As you can imagine, records and documentation have all been lost and my radio code/serial is no where to be found without physically pulling the unit. I've used Honda's Owner Link in the past for previous vehicles and from reading your post registered the CL with the site. Amazingly it pulled some records like what recalls that affected the vehicle had already been tended to Among other things was an association with a dealership I presume was the dealership to sell the car. Unfortunately I called their service department after hours (6:30pm on a Saturday) and was unable to get any help, but was advised to call back Monday at 7am and they will have the code!! SCORE! Let's hope the lady wasn't BS-ing me and this save me the cash AND the hassle of having to remove the radio myself

Trust me when I say I've nearly torn the car apart looking in all the various places documented My last resort is to call the stealership the car was purchased from t'morrow and speak with the parts/service department about the code to see if it's on file there. Best tip thus far was the whole ownerslink thing as it listed the originating dealer

You should be able to give them your VIN and they'll give you the code.
