O2 Sensors???? Help, Please.
O2 Sensors???? Help, Please.
I have a 1998 Acura 3.0 CL. The car started to stall at intersections and once on the expressway. My husband took it to autozone and had a diagnostic done. It said that the EGR valve (forgive me if it is ERG, sorry I forgot) was clogged or something to that effect. My husband purchased the valve from the dealer and then replaced it himself. That day I drove the car to the store. On the way there it was fine. On the way back it stalled at two red lights several times. I couldn't get the car to start up for any length of time. I called my husband and he tried driving it home and it was fine. The check engine light was on before the valve was changed but after being replaced it is no longer on. So after all that....my question is does this sound like the O2 sensors need to be replaced. If so, how many are there? Do you know of a place to purchase them at a decent price? Are they difficult to install yourself? Pretty much unplug, plug in, right? I tried looking online for prices and honestly, didn't know enough to get a good idea of pricing. It seemed to range from $70 to $120 each. I was told the car could have as many as 5. Does that sound correct? I know this will cost far too much in the hands of the dealer or shop. A mechanic wanted $425.00 to replace the valve. My husband did it himself for $70.00. So, please help!
probably your ignition system is the problem, it was recalled on alot of CL's and its not uncommon to hear about it. take it to your dealership and have them check to see if it was recalled for your CL
Thank you for your response. I called the dealership and they said there was a recall on the ignition switch. I am very very thankful. Nothing is worse than paying through the nose for parts or a service you don't need. Hopefully, this is the only problem.
