noob with Problem

Hey everyone!!

This is my first post. I just have one question: my a/c's not working and i've been told its my compressor and just recently my check engine light came on--are these two somehow related? Oh, i have 98 cl 3.0

It's not impossible the two items are related, but unlikely.

Regarding AC, is the blower running but air is warm or is blower not operating.
Have you checked to see if the compressor is engaging (center piece turns w/ the pulley)? Need more details to hazard a diagnosis.

CEL is best addressed by getting the codes at Autozone or other parts store. They will usually pull the codes for free. Post the codes and I'll try to help.

good luck

thanks for the response. I took it to Autozone and found out i need an O2 sensor. But as for the a/c it blows out warm air...it'll start cool for a sec and then turn really hot. I took to one place and they told me it was the compressor. Took someplace else and they said my explansion valve maybe clogged. I dont think its the compressor cuz when i click on the a/c the green light comes on and i hear it blowing. Btw when i tried to get it charged up--both mechanics said that the refridgerant just sits in there and its not getting to where it needs to go (whatever that means). Could it be the thermostat? Or the condensor since thats on the intake side?

What code was reported? Some O2 codes indicate a faulty O2 sensor, but some indicate fuel/air metering problems.

AC could have a blockage in the expansion valve, but w/o more information (system operating presssures taken w/ manifold gauge set) that's just a guess. It appears that on startup the AC works until pressures increase to the point the high pressure cut-out shuts down the compressor by disabling the compressor clutch. You can verify this by having someone watch the compressor when you start the AC w/ engine running. You should see the center of the compressor (clutch) turn for a few seconds and then stop. It could be a faulty high pressure cut-out, but that is less likelly. You will need professional AC service to fix.

good luck

Thank you. The code was P0138 and I looked it up to mean2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2). So, I am going to have it replaced this week. And while Im @ the shop, I'll get them to check out the a/c. Btw, I checked the compressor while i ran the a/c and the cylinder moved and didnt shut off.
