Hello, I just bought a 98 CL 3.0 and has Gold package.It is silver/purple And has 144,000 miles on it. I have some questions I am hoping someone could answear for me. Thanks for all your help. This is a great website and full of tons of info.
1. I saw a report off of carsurvey.org that if you have a 98 it is one of only 500 made. Is this true
2. Am I going to have any transmission problems with it. It has 144000 miles on it. It is a automatic. The guy at the dealer in columbus ohio says there were no probs with that year. Only 00-02.
3. Were is a good place to buy a repair manuall on it. Like a chiltons or haynes. And parts at a good price.
4. What is a first gen or a second gen mean. ???
5. Is it ok to use fram oil filters on it.
6. Any way to hook up a pair of 10" JL. Is there a pair of rca jacks in the back of the stock head unit. Thanks for everybodys help to get me started on my new project. I'll show pics later.

 

1. dunno, but doubt it - one of only 500? we're not common, but we're not rare either.
2. Baby that tranny.. if its the original, it may give soon. First thing you should do is buy a transmission cooler from your local autoparts store... it will help with longevity of your tranny!

4. 97-99 CL = 1st Gen, 01-03 = 2nd Gen (they skipped 2000 for the redesign... and 97's were released in late 96 so thats why they're called 96's sometimes...

5. Fram filters are some of the worst in head to head comparrissons. Stick to wix or purolator filters- they are what most dealerships filters are made by. All dealership filters are good.
