Moon Roof Stuck

Anyone have any idea? The day is sorta nice so I decided to open the moonroof, too bad I can't cause it moves just a little bit backwards and one side seems not to move at all and it gets stuck and won't open. I can close it though.

Any idea on how to fix it?

You need to check the track, if possible, for items lodged in there.

Your sunroof could be out of alignment, causing it to jam when opening. I'll have more to help you when I get back home tonight, I'll have to pull up the service manual.

also; see if you can see any cables hanging or loose; sometimes the cable can loose tension and cause a similar problem.

what i would do; is grab your sunroof wrench tool; and try to open and close manually; if it works smoothly; you know it's your motor or a bad switch. good luck!

^, I've tried the manual way and it still gets "stuck" or hard to turn once I get the the same position of opening. Plus I don't want to break anything else so I stop turning harder.

I think I will try and take out the glass piece so I can see what the heck is going on! I sprayed wd40 on the problem area and still no go!

It's a small metal tool, like a straight rod bent at opposing angles on both ends.

Almost like a squared off S.

It shows it as number 1, you can order it.

After taking off the glass piece I found that the passenger side cable assembly (the end plastic part that looks like a wedge) at the end broke off.

Therefore, for me at least it can only tilt up, so I took it out and now I can slide the glass all the way back. BUT, now I can't tilt up!

I guess I rather be able to slide all the way back then tilt up. I asked the dealer for the part but they only sell the whole cable assembly (~$250) I don't think it's worth it to spend that much for a VERY little plastic piece!

So I will have to see if I can either glue it or somehow make some other wedge up to make it be able to tilt.

Hi Saiko,

Is it hard to take out the headliner? Do you have the manual for taking apart the headliner?
