Low idle sometimes

So I noticed sometimes the car has a low idle when I first start it up then it goes up to normal. I didn't pay much attention to it til the car died right after I started it the other day. I would start the car & it would turn over but wouldn't idle & just die right away. I tried starting it like over 5 times then called AAA for a tow. The car was doing the same thing then when they were about to put it on the lift, it finally started. It's been starting fine ever since then. It did idle low once when I started it up yesterday. I looked at other treads on here & I've concluded it's probably a clog IAC valve, egr port & the throttle body. The CEL is on with the code P0401 & it's been on for over 2 years now even after I had the egr cleaned around 2 years ago when I had to pass smog. I'm thinking of cleaning it myself soon because I don't think they did a full cleaning on it at that time. Any have any other suggestions?

I've been having that same issue with mine. Mine does it out of nowhere not just on the first startup of the day. I have to give it some gas in order for it to go back to normal rpms. All those things you mentioned could be the cause and i would also say maybe the fuel pump could be part of the cause.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I highly doubt it being a fuel pump problem, for the shear fact that the engine will smell rich with gasoline at this time. I also doubt a dirty air filter being the problem either. It would (in my opinion) have to be part of the car's brain; a sensor somewhere not reading correctly during temperature change... yadda yadda.

It's pretty easy to do. Just disconnect the intake/throttle body. Undo anything attached to the manifold and take the 10 or so bolts out of the manifold and remove it. Then clean the ports.
