Key turns, nothing happens.
Last year I had this same issue, I turn the key al the way forward, no response whatsoever. I got the starter replaced, problem solved.
But now its happening again, do you think it could be the starter again, or just the alternator or battery?
I'm probably due for a battery and alternator replacement anyway, but do you guys think a starter could shit the bed in a year?

it's probably not the starter if it's only a year old.
obviously first check the battery, as that's probably it.
then check battery fuse and the alternator.
make sure all your cables are securely fastened (not just on the terminals)
if it's none of that, i guess your starter is probably fucked

The lights come on, but nothing happens at all, no noises or anything. And what's eve more strange is that this isn't happening on a daily basis, it's just an occasional thing in the past month

I had the same problem when I had my 99 Altima. I would turn the key and nothing would happen. The dash lights, radio, etc would work but nothing else. I found out it was due to the security system. I had removed the fuse due to one of the sensors going bad. The alarm would go off whenever it felt like it so I removed the fuse. Sometimes however this caused the engine not to crank because of the engine immobilizer system.
This might not be relevant because of the different makes of cars, but it sounds a lot like what was happening to me.
