So I installed my SRI today on my 97 3.0 auto. The hum noise I can deal with but why is does it whistle when I gently accelerate?? I'm thinking its the cone so i'll get a K&N filter when I get some free time but soes anyone know whats up with the whistle??

 

the whistle, from what i understand, is completely normal.
i find it very tolerable... actually, i like it.
the hum, however, is infuriating

 

whistle is natural.. its just all the air being sucked in. it kinda sounds cool...?

 

I get a whistle without a SRI or CAI just a K&N insert. A noticable whistle that I have learned to love.
