everytime i take my car out and drive it in teh highway when i stop i start to smell a weird smell like rubber or oil burning but i have check and i get no signs of any oil leaks or anything strange under the hood

 

yeah me too!!! only if i drive for a long time on the highways. smell like rubber burnning...i thought maybe my car was too low, but it have clearance..tires not rubbing.. you can only smell it from the drivers side.

no leak...nothing dripping....i'm was thinking its could be that lil box(i think transformer) that the indiglo gauge came with....u can hear it buzzin a lil when i turn it on....could that be the problem?

I get that smell too. Just bought the car 2 weeks ago, no indiglo.

nope...your right..i smell burning rubber or oil or something sometimes too..although sometimes, mine isnt just on the highway....

 

I always thought my car was burning 2 months later i found a plastic bag on the buttom of my car all melted...

 

I have no indiglo gauges or a leak i have checked. I wounder what the smell can be? F**K i want to find out i gets on my nerves.

 

Yesterday night all of a sudden I got a big smoke in my car. Let me tell you guys what happened; Yesterday morning I did HWY drive about 100km. No issues. It was fine. But temperature at outside I believe it was 35°C. Came home park the car and drove in the eve about 30Km but not Hwy. OMG when I stopped the car there was a big smoke. I got really shocked. I drove my TL for 4 Yrs now. I didn't have any issue like that. Oil life was 40%. Checked transmission was fine. Though it shows engine oil as 40% I checked that. I saw little less oil. Top up the oil yesterday night it self. Then again I inspect the issue soon as I gets up. When I carefully monitoring the issue, I saw a wet engine nut. I checked the other nut in the same place. all the nuts were dry. What i am thinking this may be the issue for this. May be this guy dropping oil in to the hot surface of the engine. Any Ideas ? My TL is 04 and 204k

 

location of smell?type?; these threads are usually pointless; its not like we can smell it..? lol you should be able to tell the difference between oil burning,gas, rich fuel,and electrical..
