Hood Latch Stuck - Can't Open Hood - Any Suggestions?

I have a 99 Cl 2.3 137K

Hood stuck shut!
I tried to open my hood yesterday to do some suspension work and the cable release worked fine to pop open the hood but I can not move the latch lever up to release the lock from the latch.

I had a friend try the level as I pulled on the release cable and still no luck.

Any ideas on how to open the hood? It seems very hard to even see the latch through the front grill on our car.

I checked the Acura shop manuel and no word on how to force it open.

Thanks for your help!

So the hood is pop'ed but you can't move the handle to open it completely? Or the cable release isn't even working to pop it?

Mine started doing that as well. What you have to do is get more force on the latch and actually rotate it, rather than just moving it up/down. Move your fingers out to the furthest point that you can feel and push up and to the left. It's really just something you've got to do by feel and is hard to describe.

, and once you do get it open, spray the latch with some wd-40 to make sure it's lubricated so it won't seize up on u again.

Yep. Also helps to cycle it with a screwdriver to make sure it's good and lubricated. At least that's what I did...

side note to the stuck latch

If you still can't apply enough leverage to unlatch. As suggested use the WD-40, as long as you can see the latch you can still spray it. That's what I ended up doing to my wife's car, and then I sprayed the heck out of it again.
