help!!!

i juz bought an aftermarket shift knob for my 98 3.0 i was juz wondering how i can move the shift knob without having to push the little button on top of my shift knob..becuz i my aftermarket shift knob doesnt have any shift button on it....and have anybody ever put an shift boot on a automatick shifter so it can look like its an manual?....thankz

the only way to shift our autos into gear is to engage the spring in the shifter, sounds like you're SOL unless you can find a way to mount it to the piece that pushes down.

I had an aftermarket shifter on mine for a while, but took it off because it kept coming loose. Now the spring stays engaged all the time unless I hit the top of the shifter really hard. I think it might be that way because I mounted the stock shifter too low or too tight.

Kinda worries me tho because if I forget to re-engage the button anyone can hop in my car, put it in neutral and roll away.

oh...so is it worth putting an aftermarket shift knob? or juz leave it like it is....wat about taking out the cover were it say p, r, n d4 etc.. and replacing it with a shift boot...

its too hard to put a shift boot on. you're better off doing a 5spd swap.

but there is a diy on the shift boot somewhere. theres a thread on it

what kind is your shift knob? and were did you buy it?...is the push button on top or wat?

^^^ one of the nicest auto shift knobs out there. It's pricey, but you gotta pay to play. I'm getting one come spring/summer.
