does the first generation CL key have a chip
I have mentioned on here a few times that every now and then I have to turn my key 2 or 3 times before it actually kicks in the starter to crank the car and I remember my camaro doing this because of the VATS (Vehicle Anti Theft System) chip on the key getting messed up. My question is does the acura key have a chip in the black part of the key as well or is the whole switch that is getting ready to fail on me?

The 98's and 99's do have a chipped key and immobilizer, there was also a recall on the ignition switches, you should check and see if your car was part of the recall

on acura.com this is what it says
so I guess the switch has already been fixed by the recall

I've heard of using a certain array of resistors to fool the system on GMs... maybe it could apply here too?
Yes the key uses a chip. But your problem sound more like a starter/starter solenoid. The defective ignition problem wasn't a srarting problem it was a running problem after you release the key after it starts it would die unless you applied a little turning pressure on the key due to burnt contacts in the run position.

Yesterday I went into the store, then came out hit the unlock button on the remote, hopped in and when I turned the key to start the car, everything went out. All power. I opened the hood and wiggled the battery cables then went back and the power was on again, but when I turned the key it did the same thing. So I wiggled the cables again, then locked and unlocked the car again w/remote and then it started no problem. Any suggestions?
Mine does the same, but not like the comment above. Everything is good for power, just when its really really cold it doesn't click in. When it does, it doesnt need mucht o start up at all. Such a weird thing.
Im going to rewire everything in the spring time since it's way too damn cold up here right now haha.
