Cruise acting up

97 3.0 cl. She is getting feisty with me. Light work on cruise button on the left side of the steering wheel. The cruise works sometimes, meaning the light will come on in the dash cluster area and the speed will stay stable. But sometimes the cruise light wont come on in the cluster and the speed wont hold. Then the next thing that has happened 2x in the last week, cruise will be on and all of a sudden my speed will start slowly dropping. All the lights indicating it is on and working are properly illuminated.
Any ideas.
Figured it has something to do with vacuum but i dont know where to start

Do you leave the switch on the left side turned on all the time? I had something similar happen, (I leave my left switch on all the time) and all I had to do was turn that switch off, let it be (was driving down the highway) for about 5 minutes, then I tried it again and it worked fine.
