Climate Control Dimming

Does anyone know which wire to cut on the climate control so that the screen stops dimming when you turn the interior lights on? I already did this for my clock, but I couldn't find any information about the climate control and yes I did use the search function. Oh this is for a 98, not sure if the wiring is different for the other years. Any help would be appreciated and this will be my last thread for the day. lol

The RED/BLK wire is always the dimming circuit. Bottom Left shows the "combination light switch" wire on this prelude diagram (which uses the identical climate control as the CL).

Wow, thank you so much Ian for your replies for both of my questions. Very much appreciated. So now everyone knows that the red/black wire stops the dimming for the clock and climate control. Thanks again

Just cut the red/black wire and it fixed the dimming, but now the LED lighting surrounding it doesn't come on. Lol Damn

d'oh!!! i didn't even think about that. Well, if you wanted to keep the display bright, you would have to crack the climate control open. I think the display dims as a result of any voltage being sent through the unit... just as the clock does. So, in theory, all you would have to do is take the climate control unit apart and clip the lead going to the display controller within the climate control so it sees no +12V coming from the illumination circuit.

K I took the climate control apart and here's what it looks like. So which of these bad boys should I try to clip?

wow. you have some courage boy!! okay, first thing I would do is turn the circuit board over and see which path goes to the light bulbs and which one goes to a microprocessor for the display itself. If you can't follow it for whatever reason, you could hook it up and start testing the wires to see which one is the illumination wire. Do this with the key OFF so you don't accidentally fry the unit.

wait, before you do that, while you have everything out, make sure there aren't two illumination leads on the plug from the harness going to the unit with a multimeter. Q: when you clipped that wire and the backlighting went out, did the display stay bright like you wanted?

Not sure what a pcb is, but I'll post a pic of the back of the climate control later on.
