how do you check if the charging system is providing to much power to the battery therefor cause corrosion on the battery terminals?

Do you use a multimeter to the battery? or where would u find out how.

 

I dont think over charge would cause corrosion on the battery terminals? maybe im wrong? But i dont think so. A great way to check the charging system is to turn all your accesories/ heat/ defoggers on, then go to your battery and put your DVOM red lead on positive post and your black lead on the negative post. If your getting 12 Volts out of your battery with all Acc.s on, you know you have a good alternator.
