Changed spark pugs check engine light came on?

I have a 98 3.0 CL. I just changed the spark plugs and the check engine light came on. This is the plug I used IRIDIUM IX NGK ZFR5FIX-11. I tried to search for the problem but came up empty handed. I noticed that its idling a bit higher and a little white smoke comes out of the muffler. Car has been perfect until now. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

maybe you bent an electrode droping the plug into the tube and its taken to misfiring....... ive seen it before, and ill admit it happened to me when i put some in for my friends PLymouth, but no CEL came on.... im running the NGK Iridiun IX BKR7EIX-11 and theyre running fine for my 2.2, im sure youll be happy with um... assuming they arent your problem

Well I cleaned out the cap and rotor before I left for work. I got in the car and the damn light was off. Maybe they just need to be changed as well. I have those ordered already but the plugs are what came first. Thanks for the replies not sure why it did that but o well it's fine now. Milage is at 111,xxxx just got it at 110,xxx though.

I gapped the plugs to .44 which I believe is correct. I didn't have to reset the ecu, the check engine just went off by it self eventually. It's been fine ever since. Going to change the cap and rotor today, so I'll see if it does anything like that again.
