Caliper binding after new pad install?

Like the title says, I just put new rear pads on my car today. Now the drivers side caliper is binding. Even the wheel is getting too hot to touch.

I've had this happen on my Civic before, but not right after changing the pads. Would leaving the E brake on while changing them cause this? My e brake hardly works and didn't realize it was on till I finished up.

Only thing I could think of is that the caliper is most likely seized

Sorry Didnt read your post correctly, it could be possible that the e-brake cable is stuck it happened to my friend a spring got stuck

Yeah, I'll just stop at the local junk yard tomorrow and grab another one. I thought it was strange that it seized right after changing the pads. I'll look at the e brake cable first. Hopefully I can figure it out before I start leaking fluid.

If you did not align the pad slot w/ the piston +, this can cause the pad to cock and perhaps bind. The piston must be turned back in w/ a tool and aligned w/ pad.

good luck

I used the tool to turn the piston all the way back, but don't recall anything on the pad that needed lined up. It seemed pretty straight forward and I just set the pad in there. What am I looking for? And thanks for the help!

Rear brake rotor and pad replaced

I just replaced my rear rotors and pads. I have to thank this forum for providing good instructions to follow. The job was a breeze, except for the two phillips screws holding the rotors. I bought and impact driver at Autozone and that took care of it. I took a few pics, but will research on how to upload here.
