Loss of cooling could be many things. Losing coolant is one of them. Others are; fuse blown on compressor, bad compressor relay, open compressor coil, etc.

You will need professional help to determine cause for no-cooling.

good luck

When you turn your a/c on listen to make sure that the clutch on the a/c compressor is enguaging. If it does turn on then it's more then likely just low on freon (R134a). Get the R134a wit the guage so u can pressure test it & add freon to the system. Make sure if you do this yourself to do it through the low side a/c fitting

mine was doing the same thing. Best bet is to take it to a good shop and have them drain the system and do a vacuum check on it. Found out my pressure switch was bad, only cost about 90 bucks altogether.

Good advice from Saiko. A Walmart recharge kit is asking for more problems; damaged compressor requiring extensive repair. If the system leaked down to no pressure, there is a leak that must be repaired.

good luck

I found many A/C re-charge complete kits that include the freon (R134a / R12) , gauges for application, and some form of a "stop-leak" style of fluid that says it will fix a leak if there is one.

My 2.2cl is also blowing hot air but could I just try and use this "stop-leak" product and then add the R134a to see if it works? I think I can hear the cluth plate engauging so I'm pretty sure that is okay. Will I hurt my A/C system by just trying this cheaper and inexpensive procedure?

Also, to use this procedure would I use the little blue cap with the "L" on it a few inches back from the rad (1997 2.2cl)? there are 2 blue caps coming off the same rod?

Thanks for the help!

On my Landcruiser I had sporadic loss of cooling. I wasted 50.00 on one of the kits before I took it to a shop and it was the expansion valve. it was 300.00 to fix but that was almost two years ago and it is still fine.
