broken seat lever?

Last night, while getting out of my 1998 Acura CL, I tried to use the seat lever to move my Drivers seat to get into the back seat.

The lever lifts but nothing happens. Perhaps a cable snapped?

Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I try to fix it myself, leave it be due to money, or get it fixed?

if your mechanically inclined go out and buy the cable its not that expensive. then all you need to do is remove the seat from the vehicle, remove the seat back from the seat, then theres 4 12mm. bolts (i beleive maybe be wrong) from the bottom of the seat bottom then youll see where the cable connects to the bottom of the seat rail and where it connects at the seat lever. remove it one clip at a time and install the new cable clips in its place, oh and install both cable stops in their place first makes it easier than trying it at the end, then test it and if everythings ok put seat back together in reverse order and your done. good luck.

you can get the cable at the acura dealer its not that expensive. as far a as a guide im sorry but i dont know of any. its pretty easy just remove the four 14mm bolts that bolt the seat rails to the body, remove the seat out of the car.
then theres two panel clips on the lower corners of the seat back that you can pull off really carefully n fact might wanna pick up two new ones at the dealership because theyre so tight im almost certain theyll snap off. then youll see the cable going to the handle, just follow the routing as you remove one old clip from the cable and replace it with the corresponding clip from the new cable. you should be able to do it pretty easily.

Ressurecting this old thread coz I have the same problem.
The cable runs in a tube from the seat back, around the front of the seat, then along the side behind the switches to the level located just forward of the seat hinge spring.

Two questions:
- Is it possible to re-thread a new internal cable into the existing tube? Not sure given there are swaged fittings each end of the internal cable?
- Is replacing both the inner cable and outer tube the only options.
OK, its sorta the same question I guess.

Anyone who has done this and can set me straight much appreciated!
