well we get this a couple times out of the day at my work. What we do is we actually replace the hole axle shaft just incase there is something elsethat could go wrong with it. Like if you get some dirt in there or the loss of the grease could ruin the gears on ur axle and normally to have the part and labor done on it is around $350. I would recommend just getting a new cv shaft.

mine went too a few months ago, and there are two boots on the axel. it was 80$ can. for 1 boot of 140 for new oem axel. and odds are when one goes, the other will too and like big pimpin said if there is anything wrong you could get stuck in a world of hurt.

imo get the whole axel changed. it'll save you in the long run

in the states the whole axle is 90 bucks. You will be a lot better off changing the whole thing.

I got new CV axles installed recently from a cracked boot because it was a lot cheaper that way. With the dealership discount I got parts and labor for $220 for two cv axles.

If you hear a clicking sound while turning, like for a U-turn, its time to have the axles replaced anyway. There are axle boots that you can put on without removing the axle though for about $40.
