Brake Fluid Leak from mid-back

Lost all braking yesterday and so today I tried adding fluid to the MBC and everything looked ok. A while later I noticed a leak coming from, say, under the rear passenger armrest location.

Well, moved the car and sniffed the fluid and it was the brake fluid I had added.

Does anyone know if there's a connector in this area that might be loose or do you think that it might just be a nicked line?

If it is a nicked line then is it worth it to replace the lines with stainless steel or is that just a cosmetic thing?

And another question - if there is no brake fluid, how do the brakes still work when the pedal is floored? I've had a similar problem before and the brake pedal goes right to the floor then locks up the wheels when you get to the floor.

Had the thing up on the Dyno for my drive clean test a half-hour before... but there's no reason for them to fiddle with the brake lines is there?

I also had a leak from my 98 CL 3.0 in this area recently. It ended up being the parking brake seal near the caliper. Needed a new caliper. This is behind the steel shield that goes around the caliper/ brake assembly itself. If you can. Life the car if you can and check it out. Or just crawl under there and take that metal bracket off that goes around the brake assembly and check what you find :-)

I'm very bummed out about this - need this thing up and running.

Scheduled a time to have it looked at by a branded mechanic and what he came back with is really crappy.

16.95 for brake clean, discs, lube
147.85 brake line kit, 2 long 4 short
346.50 labour
tax 66.47
total 577.77

So now I'm calling around to get estimates, my guy at the Acura service dept said they must be good because there is the possibility of damaging the fuel lines which run through the same chamber and if that happens the cost might skyrocket to 1800...

I'm going to pick it up tonight and drop it by an independent mechanic who does work for my ex's father and get his opinion on it. Maybe I just shoulda started there in the first place. If it is just the callipers I'll breathe a sigh of relief while shitting my hat in anger.

The first place is the same place that said around 700 for a timing belt change.

no such luck guys, last shop says it's rusty brake lines and they and possibly the fuel lines have to be replaced. Good thing is they gave me a maximum of 900 - 125 for the parts and max 8 hours labour.

I'm not too happy about it and I'll be sure to look at the parts but then again, I'm not in any position to get something new.

then again there's a 2003 manual type s here... http://www.autotrader.ca/a/ACURA/3.2...o/19_3171944_/
