well you already rebuilt it, so thats why its fine.
as i always say....why buy a 3.0 when you know it has tranny issues and will cost 2k for a rebuild. people don't do their homework.

I bought the 3.0 new in 97. The transmission failed at 32k. I paid 1400 for the rebuild. The car is worth about 5k with 55k miles.
I'd say even if he pays 2k for the rebuild at 2500 he's in good shape.

Just bought a '98 recently from a my uncle at a Honda dealer, tranny grenaded a few days later, Acura replaced it under warranty and specifically wanted to see what was up with the old one. Just lucked out on mine, I guess. Although I would've paid to replace/rebuild as the car is definitely worth it.

sure it will. It won't last forever but you will probably get a new car by the time it even shows symptoms of breaking. I just rolled over 108k miles on trans. 100k sounds average. do it.

I have two 97 3.0 Cls and one has 133K (trans hesitates in the morning for about 2 miles)
The other one has 117K (trans has never acted up, but today, I had the bliking D4 light Went out after a restart) I'm here to find out what that is.

if u rebuilt that tranny, u gonna spend around 1400, i rebuilt mine and i put more than 50k miles and still runs good and i run my car every day!!! My problem was only burn clutches, all the metal parts were in good conditions!!

I must be at the other end of the spectrum with my car. I have over 191K on my 97 3.0 and it still runs strong. I have owned the car from day one. I still use it as my daily driver to and from work. I just bought a 2007 IS350 back in Feb and just drive it on the weekends.

Hey
I have a 1999 Cl 3.0 and the tranny did start to shift really hard between 20 and 40 mph but all you have to do is change out your torque converter and your shift solenoids and your done i just did it with 3 of my buddies in a weekend man the only thing that sucks is the filter is inside the tranny but the solenoids are on top and the side there not that hard to get to. If you go to the honda/acura dealer they just extended there warrenty on the transmission man so dont worry just enjoy the car and take i one step at a time.
