Anyone experience ignition problems?
I have a 98 2.3 CL. Recently I've noticed my car doesn't start sometimes and I have realized the problem is in my ignition. If I just stick my key in and turn I get nothing but electrical power - no engine trying to turn or anything. I've learned the past couple days that if I stick the key in very carefully it'll start up right away.
Is this an easy fix? And idea how much a fix like this costs? An old worker of mine got her key stuck in the ignition and she just could not pull it out. It ended up costing her about a grand to fix at the dealer.
I also need a new clutch soon. Yuck.

is there a recall on 97 2.2?

i have had the same kinda issue, and the one i'm talking about has been discussed a few times.
I'd turn the key the whole way and there'd be no clicking or no attempts at starting, just seemed like i had it in the II position but it wasn't. what i've tried is just releasing the clutch maybe half an inch or more from the floor and start it, seems to work fine.
Haven't really had that issue in the last few months tho, btw my car is a '97 2.2
it just sounded like my issue is somewhat the same as yours, so i thought i'd share

It could either be a faulty ignition or a bad clutch ignition sending unit (not sure of the exact name)
I know there is an ignition recall for CL's, just not sure of the years involved.

If it's the ignition switch causing this problem, could I take advantage of this recall?
Thanks.
Faulty Ignition on the 1st gen CL's
I took my 97 CL with only 102000 KM's on it into the dealership 3 years ago. I had a problem with the drivers door window, and there was a problem with the ignition switch as well. The fixed the problems for about 900 dollars. I asked if there was any secret warrantee on the window since this was a common problem, and I was told there wasn't. I now see the ignition was problematic as well. Does anyone know how long the extended warrantee on the ignition was ?
This is the second time this dealership has failed to inform me of a extended warrantee. My 2000 TL had the SRS light problem, and they wanted $850 to fix the problem when it was within the 10 year/150K mile limit.

Thanks for the information
I will call Honda Canada to see if this was covered. This same dealership wanted 850 dollars to fix a 2000 TL with the defective SRS problem. It seems that Honda might honor the warranty as it was detected before the 10 year limit was up.
Unfortunately for me, the next closest Acura dealer is accross the city. I tried to use the Honda dealer close to me, but they can't seem to get simple things such as a paint code for the. I love the cars, but hate the service.
