Unhappy no dash or parking lights at night?

I have a 99 2.3 CL. This problem just started two nights ago. When i go to turn my head lights on my dash lights and parking lights dont come on at all. The #32 fuse (small light fuse) under the hood keeps blowing and i have no idea why. . . any ideas?

also when i go to use the remote to unlock or lock the car the #38 fuse (security door lock) under the hood blows and my car wont start unless i replace the fuse and unlock the door with the key. . . . I think these problems are related some how b/c before when i locked or unlocked the car the parking lights would flash.

Does any body know what is goin on? or experienced this at all?

HELP ME OUT

thanks

you have a short in your electrical system somewhere......follow the wires coming from the parking lights to see if there is a visible short some where. but it could also come from the dash since it also flashes when you unlock your doors.
sorry cant be too much help, electrical problems are a pain in the ass.

I would recommend to check the wiring under the roof liner. I seen this happen in many Accords. The insulation for the wiring melts and shorts with the roof.

WARNING! The following is at your own risk. You can also try overloading the circuit with a 20A-30A fuse. This should allow your lights to dimly illuminate. The point of the defect will start to smoke/smell and follow the smoke/smell. I would not do this too long.

i found what the problem was it was my after market cd player i put in it. Cuz when i took out the cd player everything worked fine. . .no fusses blew or nothing. and when i hooked the cd player back up the same problem happend again. So i think the wires crossed some where behind the cd player when i put it back in or theres somethen f'ed up in the head unit itself.

PROBLEM SOLVED

i think it was b/c when i turned my head lights on before everything would go dim except the aftermarket cd player. So i would imagine it was the dimming wire

Thumbs up

I recently experieneced the same problem with the security door lock and I had to replace the fuse to inorder to start my car. Now, my dash light and back light are off.

What a relief to know that I am not alone. My friend also said it could be my aftermarket cd player and subwoofers. I will disconnect my stereo tomorrow and try to fix the problem with the lights.

Thank you for posting. Any further details are greatly appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, how does a after-market head unit w/ amp and subwoofer affect the parking lights and dash lights nowadays?

I haven't installed an aux amp or sub for several years. Back then the Subwoofer is powered by an aux amp. The aux amp has a direct connection from the 12v (+) battery. The amp is triggered on/off the by the remote 12v from the head unit. The head unit is connected through OEM wires, optionally the 12v (+) power directly connected to the battery (my Alpine does this).

On an OEM application, the dimmer wire to the head unit, is the only wire that shares the same circuitry as anything that illuminates when you turn on your parking lights (parking lights, dash board, radio brightness, etc). So everyone that has this problem after installing an after-market radio is simply incorrectly wiring the dimming wire?

the dimming wiring doesnt plug into anything on most headunits, so it just dangles if you dont tape it off or cap it.

I have unplugged my aftermarket dash and I have the same exact fuse going out on my car the small light fuse goes out everytime I turn my lights on. I've taped off the orange wire. But I don't know what else to do. My back running lights dont work but my brake lights do and so do hazard lights but no main running light or parking lights. What's the problem with my car? and It is the small light fuse because when I go to turn on my lights the fuse goes out. Short may be the answer but it's a b**ch trying to find the short any solutions? Been gone for a while and lost password. Back now

trying to find a short can be a real pain and usually its just a little luck to actually find it yourself. If you did anything to the car before this happened (like putting in a radio) you can start there and you may get lucky but it could be any wire that controls those things thats shorting out causing it to blow fuses. I just always took my car to a generator shop and had them find out what was causing my shorting problems. believe me anytime you do allot of custom work you always have some small wiring problem you have to try to track down and its usually when you have just finished a huge upgrade on a few things that one of those things is causing the problem, if all you have done is one thing and then the problem started than that would be the best place to start looking for a problem
