Alarm Issue

I have a problem. First off I have a 99 2.3 5 speed. I dont think my alarm is arming itself properly.

The lights dont flash like they used to when I arm/disarm my car. If I lock the car with the FOB then reach in and unlock the door and open it nothing happens.

Im not sure what could be wrong but I was out of town for a few weeks on work and my car was in a shop for an alignment. Could they have done something to disarm my alarm. The alarm will go off with the panic button on the remote.

Maybe check the relay fuse for the alarm, it could be blown.

Well i talked to the dealership and they of course want to charge just to look at it and see if they can locate the problem.

Anyone know where the wires for the alarm are run?

Check the sensors. On mine the hood latch sensor would sometimes act up (lose connection perhaps?) and the alarm wouldn't arm correctly.

Well I took the car to the dealer today and they said they checked the sensors.

still no luck though. The only thing they thought it might be was the driver keyhole doesnt seem to be functioning properly - like one of the pins is jammed or stuck.

Im still at a loss for ideas.

I have a similar problem. Suddenly i get no chirping when i lock and unlock my car. I'm thinking is there a way to clear the programming and then reprogram it? Maybe that might help.

I saw the thread you're referring to and tried the lock and trunk button method, that did not work. My FOB is only a few months old.

holding the trunk and lock buttons till the light on the remote flashes. One flash means the chirp/beep is activated, two flashes its deactivated.

Man, I have the same trouble for the last 10 mounths, the alarm does not arm at all. I got it checked by the dealer and all sensors seem to be fine.
The alarm light does not flash after I locked the car, neither does the chirping work even after trying the lock and trunk trick. I really want my chirping to work and mainly my alarm so at least if someone is trying to steel it then there is some security.
Please?? does anybody have any help they can give me?

Check at your sensor , if your panic button work your system work ; he just wait that you close a door ,trunk, or hood to enable the security system (one switch still open). You should check at your hood switch mine was working great but the signal was not good so the system was confused , you can just cut the wire of the hood sensor under the passenger seat (is the light green one on the bigger plug (14 wire)) you can also cut or unplug the switch in the hood latch but make sure there is not shortcut with the body (if grounded the system think that your hood is open )
