Aftermarket Head Uint Keeps Shutting off

About a year ago I had a flipout Phase Linear head unit installed from Circuit City(Bad Idea) and I've always had a problem with it shutting off when I cranked the volume up pretty high. I figured this had something to do with my stock Bose Speakers. Then I installed all new speakers, sub, and an amp and the damn thing still shuts off. Not really an expert on adio so does anyone have any ideas as to where I should start troubleshooting?

I'd start off by checking all of your connections in the back of the hu... After that, there are others who can help more than me...

It may be a shitty ground, I have had to reground radios hooked up via the circuit shitty smart harnesses. But like he said, go over the connections to be sure. Also head out to the trunk and look behind where the jack goes and see if wiring was cut / looped etc.

if its volume - its the internal protection. Get an aftermarket amp.

I have an aftermarket amp, but it's only powering the subs.

How high are we talking volume-wise when it cuts out? If you're trying to turn the head unit up past 60% of it's maximum volume potential, that's your problem. The head unit is going into protect, just like mach30 said...
