Wheel speed sensor, there are 4 of em, and they go bad quite a bit. That is the most likely cause I've replaced 3 of the 4 on my car alreay.

If you have a 2.2CL, short the service check connector (blue 2 wire connector under glove box) and read the codes flashed by the ABS light. There is a 2-sec initial flash, followed by code flashes. They are all short flashes w/ a 1-sec pause between 1st and 2nd digit of code (example ffff-P-ffff = code 4-4). Get codes and perhaps I can help.
A good reference manual for ABS can be obtained by downloaded 94-97 Honda Accord Shop Manual from hondahookup.com. The ABS system on the 94-97 Accords is same as 2.2CL Acuras.

yo jstoops we shoudl get an ack meet goin sometime. i'm down near new britain. anyway you cant change the seal you need to change out the whole modulater woot. i saw a used one on ebay for about 70 bux i dont kno how much a new one would go for. prolly a pretty penny.
ok so i brought the car to a local shop near my school recommended by all the members of the UCONN car club but they said they couldn't communicate with my ABS computer.
however, i'm about 90% sure its an ABS sensor. i'm gunna just pull it out of the shop and try to figure it out myself. however, i have to clue what the ABS sensor looks like. can anyone put up a picture of what it looks like on our cars? front and rear would be awesome.
thanks....
and <Syphers> you should come to the UCONN Car Club show it's next weekend (13th with a raindate of 14th) its only about 35min from you. check the events thread to get more info. theres a couple of AZ members comin

There are many possible faults in an ABS system. While wheel sensor is a good possibility, it is far from certain and an OEM replacement is expensive. If you extract the ABS code as suggested above, it will go a long way towards narrowing the possible faults.

This is for the DTC's, however the same service check connector is shorted for ABS codes, however the codes are flashed on the ABS light as described above.
Get the flash code and I should be able to provide some guidance on your likely problem.

# To use MIL, proceed as follows:
1. Connect SCS service connector special tool No. 07PAZ-0010100, or equivalent, to service check connector located under passenger’s side of dash.
2. Turn ignition On.
1. MIL will indicate DTC(s) by number of flashes.
i don't have that tool

I decided to ignor it since the breaks work fine, just dont have antilocking capabilities any more.
I'm trying to find out how to get rid of the dash light that stays on until the ANs system is working.

can someone link or take a pic of the thing i'm supposed to be shorting? i can't find it for the life of me. it's driving me fucking nuts. i have a '99 2.3CL not sure if that makes a difference on its location but i cant find anything that remotely looks like i can connect something to it

Above link depicts the connector. It's usually plugged into a dummy female holder and must be released by pinching and removing.
It is possible that Acura removed this connector by 99, but I don't know for sure. I think at some point Honda removed this backup system of accessing trouble codes and went w/ OBD2 alone which requires a separate sytem. ABS may require a special interrogator to access codes, but some 98 Acuras (98 2.5TL) did use this manual ABS code system, so there's a chance yours does also.

The same thing happened to me on 84 going on my way into Rye, NY i was driving and it just popped on. I ignored it until on my way home from rye on the taconic, i had no brakes at all. I mean NO BRAKES, i couldn't pump them up nothing it just dropped to the floor. Turns out i put a faulty rebuilt caliper on and it was squirting fluid out every time i hit the brakes. needless to say i used the ebrake and engine braking to exit the highway and made it home ok. But i did find this strange brown streak in my underwear when i got home. Scary
