I'll take a look in the manual and post back, if no one else chimes in. In the mean time, the following thread has helpful information on ABS codes and what an example (youtube video) of an ABS code.

Need help understanding ABS Diagnostic Trouble Code

you will always get a triplicate of the code, meaning it repeats the same code three times in one shot, giving you a chance to catch it.

Try erasing the code first, and see if it comes back.

Code 1 is ABS Pump over-run. There are a number of possibilities for this code:
- Pressure switch stuck OFF
- Open circuit between the pressure switch and ABS control unit
- Open circuit in the P-SW circuit between the pressure switch and the body ground, or a poor ground.
- Drop in pump discharge volume
- Leaking Relief Valve
- Leaking Outlet Valve
- ABS brake fluid leakage
- Faulty ABS control unit

Of these, far and away the most likely is ABS fluid leakage. Can you see the fluid level in the modulator reservoir? Look for evidence of fluid leakage beneath the abs modulator. There is a TSB to tighten 9 body plugs in the modulator to fix the leaks. PM me w/ your email address and I'll forward the TSB. The accuulator/modulator seal is an oring that also will occasionally leak.

You can download the 94-97 Honda Accord shop manual from hondahookup.com, which has ABS system description that is identical to your vehicle.

good luck

I checked the reservoir level one night and it looked ok, at least with a flashlight. i checked it again this morning under natural light and the the level was about 1 cm below min. I didn't see any evidence of leakage but I went ahead and topped off the reservoir. Coincidentally the ABS light went out, at least for today. Strange....

I'll continue to monitor.

thanks for the insight Tex
