I want to clean the egr ports on my 99 2.3. I've done some searching and found tons of info on the cleaning out the egr ports on the 97 2.2 cl, but i couldn't find anything on the 98 and 99 2.3's. Are the ports located on the exhaust manifold like the 97's and do you have to remove the fuel rail? Any suggestions or pics would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

 

I'd assume it would be in the same general location, not a huge change from F22 - F23. If it was a K series I'd say it's going to be different.

is the EGR a common problem on the 2.3's as it is on the 3.0's? just curious because i may want to do the same.

 

no egr code just p0420 still I've taken the egr off and cleaned it but couldn't locate the ports. If it involves removing the fuel injectors ill probably stay away because i wouldn't want to mess them up. I read a post on an oddyssey board where someone swears that cleaning out their egr ports eliminated their p0420.(Doesn't seem too likely but at this point im down with trying anything to try to clear the p0420.)

The egr's on the 2.3's don't cause as many problems as the 3.0's or at least that's what i have heard.

 

You guys are lost on this !! the EGR port on a 98 2.3L is not in the same place a 2.2L is. the 2.3 you have to split the intake manifold and clean it there, i will try and get you a pix of this.
