98 CL brief slip into 1st
98 CL brief slip into 1st
My car tends to have what feels like a slight slip under normal takeoff from a dead stop. It kind of bangs into drive, if you take off very gently it doesnt do it, and it shifts fine once rolling? Any Ideas? The fluid is nice and red, but kind of stinks. I just bought the car Sunday.
i have a 97 3L, it does the same if i burn up to a stop sign and try to rip away without letting the tranny shift down. my diagnosis for this is that they used the EL (4cyl) tranny with the accord 3L. so in not designing a tranny for the engine. the engine is a hi preformance engine and the tranny is a economy unit. (they took care of this with the second gen. modles) i get arround this potentialy tranny wreaking problem by making sure when im stopping and then accelerating i let the tranny have time to shift into 1st from second. if not the rpm's climb but no forward momentum and then a bang and the gear engages. ive changed my tranny fluid with the factory recommended fluid 3 times in a row, my fluid is bran new and it will still do this. i dont know if this is the same problem you are having but i hope it helped.... so in conclusion i dont think you can do anything other than monitor (feel) the tranny at low speed.
Mine doesn't bang into gear but from a dead stop takeoff with light acceleration it seems to hesitate from 1st to 2nd and if I gas it a little more on takeoff, it goes all the way to 3k rpm's and shifts fine.
