98 2.3 no crank. need help. asap please
I need some help please. My 98 2.3CL. Yesterday morning i turned on my car to warm it up. Turns on fine. While scrapping the snow off of the car all of the sudden my car turns off on me. I try starting the car right away. Nothing. No crank. No click. And my battery seems fine. None of my lights are dim what so ever. Ten minutes later I try starting my car and it starts without a problem. I give it a little gas and after I let go the car turned off again. As of then it hasn't turned on. Does anyone know wat this could be?
yea i was thinkin the same thing. i called acura. they told me to get my car towed to the acura dealer to get a diagnostic. i think thats the only choice i got. anyone else with feedback would help out alot. thanks
It could be keyswitch, ignitor, coil, or a fuel delivery problem; fuel pump, main fuel relay.
If problem is continuous, Honda will sort it out quickly. If intermittent, they may not be able to diagnose (no one can diagnose a problem that's not present).
It's not the alterntor since battery is turning engine over and managed one restart. Car will run fine w/ a bad alternator as long as battery holds up.
good luck

I missed that no-sound or starter engagement was occurring.
Since starter is not engaging, this leaves out ignition parts as possibilities and leaves keyswitch (most likely), failing starter solenoid (possible but you usually hear a loud click), or failing starter.
Also, make sure your battery connections are clean and tight. A simple bad battery connection can cause this problem.

i ended up towin my car to the acura dealer. they replaced the ignition switch on the car. they couldn't get the car started. they said they couldnt run any kind of diagnostic because my car didnt run, if that makes any sense to you. i have a clifford alarm system installed in my car as well. they said that the problem is my car alarm, but they didnt run any tests on my alternator or anything. anyone have any sugestions on wat to do? i was thinkin to try to find where my starter is and try to disconnect the wire from my alarm.
