I have a 1997 CL 2.2. So, it is at the first start of the car, after it has been sitting overnight, that i usually have my problem. It takes about 5-7 seconds for my car to start. It takes longer for my car to catch, but it always starts. just put in a new battery, alternator was replaced about a year ago. It happens on either cold or hot days. I notice it a lot when my car is facing down on a hill, weird I know, lol. Could it be the starter, fuel filter, fuel relay?
Please help, I am at a loss.

 

Hi, I just wanted to add that the mileage is just over 166k, spark plugs were replaced at about 50k miles ago. These symptoms have been going on for about a year. Also, If this helps, I notice that it gets harder to start when I have 7 gallons or less of gas in my car. Though it did it today with a full tank.

 

First guess would be the starter, could be a fuel delivery issue, but definitely sounds more like the starter

 

Thank you, that is also what we were thinking. Maybe the fuel relay, if I can get it to act up again, when there is less gas in the tank again.
