97 3.0 maintenence @ 109k miles (advice needed)

I'm around 109,xxx miles and just recently my 3.0 started acting up. I'm experiencing bogging @ 4k rpm and I can't rev past that in all gears. The ECU throws no codes, and I don't know where to start looking. I checked the maintenence schedule and it says I'm due for spark plug replacement and timing/balencer belt + water pump replacement. Has anyone experienced what I'm experiencing in my 3.0? I am guessing I'm bogging out because my spark plugs are bad, or probably my cat conv. is bad. I don't know. I'm also experiencing very shitty gas mileage. A 1/4 tank gives me around 45 miles.. Anyone with advice, please shed some light upon me.

wow, 45 miles. that sucks. i think is thats all you need for now. watch for your o2 sensor, bc mine is throwing a 0420 code on my car. autozone said that its either my car needs a tune-up, my car is misfiring, or my o2 sensor is bad.

There's a Honda recall that will take care of your spark plugs, cables and distribution cap (??) at 50K and 100K miles I believe. It has something to do with Honda losing to a CARB suit. I'm not sure on the mileage but google it and you will find it.

See the following for info:

http://www.usdoj.gov/opa/pr/1998/June/264enr.htm.html

Here's the excerpt that you would be interested in. You get a free tune up that includes the replacement of the plugs, cables and others.

Under an agreement filed today with the U.S. District Court
for the District of Columbia, and a related agreement between
Honda and CARB, Honda will extend the emissions warranty for all
affected models to 14 years/150,000 miles, provide an engine
check and any emissions-related repairs needed between 50,000 and
75,000 miles of use, and provide a free tune up between 75,000
and 150,000 miles of use, at a cost to Honda of at least $250,000
million. In addition, Honda will spend, under the federal and
State agreements, $17.1 million, including $12.6 million in civil
penalties -- the largest ever under the Clean Air Act -- and $4.5
million to implement environmental projects to reduce pollution.

So I'd take that form down to Honda or Acura and they'll perform the free tune up?

They actually have a Technical Report Bulletin for it. I would bring the form with me so that you can show them what you are talking about in case they decide to play dumb. I had it done on mine just when mine turn 100,000. If I had known about it before then I would have it done once before also.

And yes it is a free tuneup. I will try to find the TRB number.

Should be TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) not TRB.
