97 2.2CL AT D4 Problem (Searched, no results)
I just finished searching the 26 pages of posts in the problems and fixes section and can't find anything related to my problem.
When I am driving and my car shifts to overdrive it seems to lock out like instantly (even at like 45mph). and then when i go to accelerate again i have to push the pedal like 3/4 in to the to get it to unlock again so i can accelerate. and on top of that sometimes it likes to work and sometimes it doesnt, only adding to my aggrivation.
What does this soundl like? this is the only problem i have with my cl and its been bugging me for months...! I have 168K miles btw.

hey dude that could be alot of things.
But try driving in d3 unless you get above 45-50 miles an hour. Then manually shift to D4.
I've found from years of driving that the transmission is pretty locked engaged when in d4 and when your in stop and go driving this can wear out your transmission. Notice the D4 going back to third hard.
I use D4 on the highway and anywhere when i can cruise.
Your transmission may be a culprit to your problem

Ya i'm also sure that the trannies the source of the problem. and no if i go to accelrate fairly hard it will shift into third fine like it should or if i go to drop it into d3 it goes in fine. its only frustrtating me because it only does it sometimes and other times it runs flawless all day. so idk.. it just irritates me. and i dont like the having to shift it into d4. it should just work right all the time. im too ocd about it for my own good i guess..
