Hi, I recently bought a 97 CL 4 cylinders. I noticed that there might by two places to top up brake fluid: 1) the conventional location right above the master cylinder, and 2) a smaller jar next to the first one, circled in red in the picture. Does anyone know what this is for? Is it also for brakes? Why would you need 2 of them? Thanks for the enlightenment.
What is this reservoir for? Is this also for brake fluid? Why are there 2 of them?
You shouldnt have to top off brake fluid. If it is low your brakes will need to be changed sood. The part of the pads that wear away are replaced by the caliper closing in more, requiring more brake fluid. If done right, when you change all your brake pads the fluid level returns to full. However if your car is a 97 i recommend having someone help you that has bled brakes before change the brake fluid with the pads.
