Exclamation 1997 CL 2.2 keyless entry problem PLEASE HELP :*(

Okay, so I went through countless threads involving keyless entries, but I couldn't find one that dealt with the issue I have. I have a 1997 CL 2.2, I bought it used and it came with the stock alarm/keyless entry. For the first couple of months the keyless entry/alarm worked just fine. Then it began working every once in a while, now it doesn't work at all. I replaced the battery in my remote (even though I don't think that was the issue because the red LED was working fine) and tried to reprogram it according to the procedures in the forum. I didn't get any response from the car when I tried reprogramming the remote. So I got to thinking there might be something wrong with the unit itself, I checked the fuses that were used by the security system (the one fuse under the hood and the one fuse under the dash) and they were fine. I even tested the alarm by opening my window, locking the car, and waiting 30 seconds to unlock the door w/o my key! That was the one thing that used to set the alarm off. I know that the remote is fine, so I think theres a problem with the unit under my passenger side seat. I just don't know what in the world would have done it because I cannot recall any instance where the device would have sustained any damage.

I'm out of ideas, what should I do?!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
