a lil paint

just a lil white paint on that shield thing, it was all rusted over and made the bay look real icky.

i'd also like to paint the valve cover and i'd love to change that frickin gasket thats under there cuz theres oil leakin outta almost every crevice on the vc. but i have no idea how to do it, do i need to go buy a torque wrench or can i just do it with my plain old wrenches and not have a problem? i want to do it right, someone whos done this on a 2.x help me plz!

ordinary wrenches should work, just make sure u have something with good leverage. did you use high temperature paint, if not that might not last long.

its real simple, you dont need a torque wrench, just look for the bolts IIRC theyre 10mm or 12mm

Those are some huge spark plug wires...do those add any performance or just for looks?

The only way to take advantage of the larger spark plug wires is to do a full ignition system. Otherwise your just sending the stock ignition signals to the plugs, through a larger wire.

yes, i used high heat paint from duplicolor (1200 degrees F, intermittently)

yes, the cables ARE huge as hell, ask slammed_cl. i bought them online cuz they were such a pretty blue color compared to the other blue ones out there, but i kinda ignored the fact that they are 10.3 mm thick. they dont even come close to fitting in the lil brackets lol. they are almost as thick as the hose that goes from the intake to the VC (you can see for yourself)

i plan on washing my engine bay for the 10/28 meet, i wish i had enough time to paint the VC by then, but i havent worked up the courage to take it off yet.

does anyone think it looks dumb painted in white? criticism/ideas are welcome. notice i also changed the bolts to zinc plated instead of the galvanized look, i plan on swapping as many of the visible bolts too, whaddya yall think?

i think it looks rice.

hey, you asked for it.

but my bay has some rice in it too. when i put the megan headers on, i figured wtf, might as well paint the stock ones. i did them this gay chromeish color, and when the megan headers decided to SUCK SO MUCH FUCKING BALLS... aspfhqahro oi;ksa.. (lets not get into that right now) i had to put the riced silver headers back on. needless to say, i avoid showing people my engine bay like the plague.

guess i'll paint em high temp black to cover up my gay mistake.

have you seen stock k24 headers dude? whats so rice about it looking that crinkled crome, it looks decent and almost normal to me....

as far as the rice comment, good then i matches my rice tail tint, my rice front grill, my rice foglights, and my rice complimentary entrance lights. and not to mention my rice as hell steering wheel cover...

i think your talking about the K24 intake manifold. the intake manifold is in the front and the exhaust manifold is hidden in the back of the engine bay.

i say paint it black, unless u wanted to also go along w/ the white vc... but then again that would look a little much (white exh shield & white vc... not 2 mention white car) u could go w/ a blk shield n silver vc.... white vc would make it look like a domino in the engine bay... other than that it looks like u did a pretty decent job...

oh yea, 10.3mm wires are pretty much pointless like what was said b4 since u gotta stock ign setup... all ur gunna get less resistance of spark flow to the plugs...

n go ahead n pick up that HG cause if its leakin, u def. dont want coolant gettin in ur cyl, thats the last thing u need... it would b n ur best intrest... this is 1 thing u dont wanna cut the corners on...they'll run u from $50-$200 depending on quality, copper is a good choice... u get what u pay for <
heres 1 on ebay if ur tryin 2 spend a lil cash

MLS (multi-layer steel) gaskets are also a quality choice

one more bit of info... for every .010" of gasket thickness u can raise ur compression chamber volumn about 2.5cc
thats y the MLS=
