i know theres a shit load of threads on here about custom 97 grills

well i bought one cus me no likey the 99 grille

ive been reading about these cutom grills and ive found too that either one i would like mine to look like...even by reading all those threads i never found any details on how to achieve them

so what i want is DETAILS and no goddam abbreviations


i have no idea how ayougo got his to do this so please some help

ok now that I have your attention, what ayougo did was cutout that support for the ------A------- thats built into the grille, and sanded it down to smooth perfection. After that, he just painted the inside (as you can clearly see) when he repainted the car. That is a 100% not available on the market custom grille job.

As for RP, cant remember exactly what he did but by looking at the picture, it looks like the silver trim piece was repainted black and somehow he just stuck it on there

Go for how ayougo has it setup. Wouldnt stand out as nicely on a black CL, but it would still look nice.

^^yea but he's asking a question about how to change his grille.. it would have been better suited on the main page or maybe in DIY/FAQ

 

just cut out the ----A--- like alex said, fill in the holes with some bondo, sand till smooth, primer the paint it & add your mesh

I knew it was but yeah, both ayougo and recycled cut out their "A" supports in the middle and sanded and bondo'd them. They both posted info about how they did them.

 

I guess my text fooled everyone. Oh well. Like I said, as long as he doesnt act the fool, he should be fine I guess.
