miles per tank?
i have a 1997 Cl 2.2 and the most ive seen out of a full tank is about 395 miles and i did mostly highway miles...is this about right? and some tanks i see about 350ish...i dont drive the car hard AT ALL and i use cruise control on higways at about 60mph almost alwayss...so im just looking for some input from other people.
Doesn't the gas light come on around when 14.25 or 14.5 gallons has been used?
14.5 x 30 = 435
395 isn't all that bad and he does live in Queens so I'll guess he doesn't do all that much freeway driving

i dont think my gas light comes on at all...i tried driving it to real low and it still didnt come on..i got too nervous and filled up...does the gas light come on when u turn the key to aux like the oil light and abs etc. i also replaced both o2 sensors and the CEL keeps coming on and off..i scanned it at auto zone and it came up as bank1 running too lean... i was told that was the 02 sensors but they were both replaced...any help is greatly appreciated.
Also, if I let the needle on my fuel gauge go all the way to E or even sometimes below E, I can only pump 14.5 gallons max. I normally get 27-30 mpg. The best ever was 36 mpg.

i know i was almost DEAD E and i filled up and got 13.9 gallons...so ill just say about 14.5 as well....i do most highway driving..i changed my plugs and get oil changes regularly and my tire pressure is at the recomended PSI...what else can i do to get better MPG?
why not just keep the receipt from the next time you fill up.
use the trip computer to tell you how far you went(miles) on that amount of gas(the gallons you filled your car with).
and then calculate your MPG.
doesn't make sense to tell us this info, cuz we don't know how far your driving it on E or even if your guage is close to reading correctly.
And either way, your getting waaaayyy better mileage than me... i'm thinking about taking mine into the dealership to get checked cuz it's horrible........17ish MPG for me....FML and the cl

I get about 130 miles... Sometimes it's as low as 90, or as high as 400... But then again I think my VSS is bad, and so my speedo/odometer/trip don't work all the time. Back when everything was working right, I could do just over 400 miles before the light came on...
I used to get just under 400 now i'm lucky if I hit 300 and that's after the honda tuneup.
ON my trip down to FL though on cruis econtrol i'm pretty sure I got or got close to 400 on a tank

my gas light never comes on.... It's pretty much a PITA to replace it since it requires the dash be taken apart correct?
Also I don't think I've ever put more then around 13.5/14 gallons in my tank and I've driven it quite the distance after the needle drops fully below E. I don't see how the tanks are 17.2... While it's not the best thing to do to your fuel pump I feel like running it till it dies and keeping a 1/2 gal jug in the trunk just to see.

i don't really love the cl that much, i just put a lot of money into it.
so i'm gonna keep it, till i can afford a newer car in a couple years
...but for now i need to get some better gas mileage...
i plan on getting spark plugs and cap replaced, along with all the fluids (like tranny, coolant, brake, clutch..whatever else)... any other suggestions?

Synthetic motor oil.
already done, and i've done 3 since i've gotten the car (i use the high mileage oil/filter btw) , the most mileage i've put on between oil changes has been 4500 kilometers, so around 2800 miles
but usually i try for between 3000 and 4000 kms, just to be safe
been thinking about seafoaming, but i really need my car to run right for the summer as i'm gonna need it 24/7 and with 28xxxx kilometers, i don't really want to chance something going wrong
btw i have a 2.2/5
wtf is wrong with this thing
damn i need to get this fixed within the next couple weeks, gonna be some crazy highway driving all the time after that

Eh, my 97 2.2 gets 350 - 400 before i fill up, but I never get to the light. I rather not go that far and strain the pump. My last economy drive grandma'ing it the whole tank I got 430 before I filled up - again, that is before the gas light.
iunno because hes from CT...if you convert that it IS about 341 miles so i could be possible...if i change my air filter will it make a difference? because i just looked at it and i like i read somewhere i couldnt see the sun through it so it must be time to change it right?

miles per tank is NOT an accurate way of determining your fuel milage.
drive your car till you gas light comes on or its close to empty
fill your tank
reset your trip meter
drive until you refuel again, note how many gallons it took you to travel that distance.
divide to get your MPG.

so you fill up once a month?
i averaged 35 the other day highway driving. then again, i only have 53k on my engine. still wanna seafoam her though. next time im home, dont think school would appreaciate that all too much.
^that's not too good.
...so i changed my driving style and i noticed my MPG improve quite a bit.
i was at about 17.5MPG before, and i achieved 21.8MPG on my last fill up
and that is mostly city driving
and i'm up to about 500km(310miles) to a tank before the light comes, and it wasn't quite on E yet either
i hope to hit 600-700km a tank to as close to completely empty as i can go for mostly highway driving
i think i can still improve on my city driving some more tho, just gotta use the brakes as little as possible, and coast a lot. those are good ideas to follow, and really help, as is evident by my improvement

I also got 200-220 miles all city which I divide it by number of gallons it took to refill the reservoir and usually get 18-20 mpg. Everything was stock back then, now I have 19" rims [27.5 lbs each vs 12-15lbs for stock wheel (16")], I get 14-15 miles per gallon. That's what I sacrifice to for looks. Anyway, when winter comes, these rims are headed to the basement.
