Do it yourself for front cl studs

So i have the need to replace the studs for my front wheels, cause they're stripped and no tire will stay on them. I have the studs and the new lugs, I just need the instructions to do them so i can have my car towed into a shop!

so if there's anyone willing to help a kid out, it'd be awesome!

To get them out you just gotta pound them out. Dont hit them real hard, just consistent.

To get the new ones in, the easiest way is to put the stud through the hole from the backside. Put closed end of a wrench around the outside of the stud. Take one of your lugs and screw it onto the stud. The reason you have the wrench on there just merely a spacer.
Take your 4way or whatever you are using for your lugs and keep turning it until you pull the stud all the way into the rotor. Understand?

I had a stripped lug once on one of the front wheels because a local shop sold me the wrong tuner lugs for my car and the guy who helped me forced it in. So I went to a mechanic shop to have it fixed since the front rotor is hub over wheel or something like that. I paid $60 to have it replaced + $1.79 for the stud itself on advance auto parts. the good thing is, I watched them do it so I am confident that I know how to do it next time I strip a stud. First step, remove the wheel then brake caliper and bracket (i think two bolts behind) and hang the it somewhere (don't let it hang by its brake hose) . You will see the 4 studs and 4 bolts exposed. Now, remove the axle nut with 36mm socket (amazon has it for $6 shipped for prime members or $20 on local shops) and then remove the 4 bolts located beside the studs use a bar to stop the wheel from turning (if you need pics, see the DIY for rotor replacement). Next, he used a bar with a weight in the middle that screws onto the studs and moves the weight onto the opposite direction to remove the rotor and along with stud set up. No one has this equipment so I am assuming just pry off the rotor and stud assembly. Once it is off, you can now take the stud assembly and hammer out the stripped stud. to put the new one in (you have to mount it first before doing this), use a bigger lug first as a spacer (or anything you can think of) and use an open end lug using torque to pull the new stud into the hole. Putting it back on, he put some lube on the bearings first then the rotor, lined up the stud assembly, put the 4 bolts then screwed them back on and finally, put the axle nut on (105 lbs-ft) and finally the wheel. Hope this helps, I am not too sure about putting it back together and lining things up so just ask the experts here.
check this link to see pics of the 4 bolts beside the studs and axle nut in the middle (8th pic):

Who cares if the thread is old if the information is relevant and or someone has a question about it.

Since this got bumped... I broke a stud by hand trying to get a locked up lug loose one time on the CL and it was a little bit of a bitch getting the new one in but I basically tapped it in with a mallet and then let the lug pull it the rest of the way through when it was tightened. It's been over a year now so far so good.

he answered the question for a poster that hasn't visited the site in 3 years, that was already answered by swervin CL right after the question was proposed.

This is the DIY section. So what if it is an old thread, I dont expect the guy to log in to read what I posted bt i did it so that people who need the diy to replace a front stud can use this as reference. Besides, no offense to swervincl, but to me his reply needed supplemental info. I wanted to fix my stud before i went to the shop but no one explained it step by step, some said hammer it out, others said remove the knuckle & hub, he said press it on a macine, etc. If you have nothing good to say or contribute to this thread, i suggest keep those thoughts to yourself!

to knock the stud out of the hub, like most cars, all you need to do, is dissemble the hub, or get it to the point where you can tap the studs out with a preferably rubber mallet.
